Dwayne Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL breaking Lasith Malinga’s tally of 170 wickets
Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo became the highest and leading wicket-taker in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his 171st scalp against Lucknow Super Giants in the 2nd league game of the season.
With the wicket of Deepak Hooda, he achieved the incredible landmark and overtook the Srilankan great Lasith Malinga (170 wickets in 122 matches) in his 153rd game. The Top 5 slots in the highest wicket-takers are followed by Indian spinners in the list, who are Indian spinners Amit Mishra (166 wickets), Piyush Chawla (157 wickets), and Harbhajan (150 wickets).
Congratulatory message for CSK skipper and Teammates
He was wished by his CSK skipper and his teammates, Ravindra Jadeja in a video posted on CSK’s website “DJ Bravo, Champion, many many congratulations on becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL. You are still 37 years young. Many more wickets to go and I hope you scalp 200 wickets in IPL,”
“Congratulations DJ Bravo on becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL. From today you have become the official grandfather of IPL, so hearty congratulations once again,” said CSK Middle-order Ambati Rayudu.
“Many congratulations to you Bravo on your achievement. I hope you will get plenty more this season,” said CSK All-rounder Moeen Ali.
Leading Wicket Taker in All T20s as well
The Dashing all-rounder is not only the leading wicket-taker in IPL but in all T20s with the most number of wickets to his name. He has taken 575 scalps in 524 matches, far ahead of second-leading wicket-taker Imran Tahir’s tally of 451, who is second on that list.
Bravo was recently bought by CSK for 4.4 crores in this year’s mega auction. Apart from CSK he also played for Mumbai Indians and the now-defunct Gujarat Lions in the IPL.
Interestingly he has been the first bowler to pick 300, 400, and 500 T20 wickets in T20 cricket which is a huge achievement already for his glittering carrier.
